ITEM DESCRIPTION : Liechtenstein 270-72 complete set tied by "Vaduz, August 8, 1953" postmarks to real photograph postcard inscribed "14th International Scout Conference, Vaduz, August 8-13th 1953 Principality of Liechtenstein" featuring photographs of Prince Emanuel of Liechtenstein with Lord Baden-Powell with the genuine and original signature of Prince Emanuel. Karl Emanuel Johannes Gabriel Maria Josef, Prinz von und zu Liechtenstein (1908 - 1987) was a member of the royal family that rules the Principality of Liechtenstein. Prince Emanuel joined the Scout Movement in 1933.
He participated in the 4th World Scout Jamboree in Gödöllö. He served as Chief Scout of all Liechtenstein (Korpsführer) of Fürstlich Liechtensteinische Pfadfinderkorps St.
Georg from 1935 to 1971. During World War II he kept contact with the "Badener Ring". A secret group of Scouts and Scouters from Austria and the Netherlands, located in Austria.
This group had contacts to French POW Rover Scouts and to Scouters all over Austria. He delivered foreign Scouting magazines to them. He also informed Austrian Scouts about the death of Baden-Powell in 1941. Prince Emanuel was Contingent Leader of Liechtenstein at the 7th World Scout Jamboree in Bad Ischl.
 In 1956 Prince Emanuel together with Austrian Scouts helped refugees after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
